Frequently Asked Questions

Who owns this site?

The site is owned and operated by Drs. Sara Rachel Chant and Zachary Ernst. Sara is the owner of Nobledane — a very small kennel that breeds and shows champion Great Danes.

Is Sara's connection to Nobledane a conflict of interest?

No. Nobledane breeds and shows Great Danes — it has nothing to do with veterinary care, reviews, or how this site operates. Neither Sara nor Zachary has any financial stake in any veterinarian, clinic, or veterinary business, and neither takes money from one. If that ever changed, we'd disclose it here.

How do you make money?

We don't. There are no advertisements, deals with veterinarians, corporations, private equity, etc. There are no fees for joining us or using the site. We don't sell any data to anyone. There are no “premium” memberships or “sponsored” listings. No money changes hands, period.

Where do you get the information about vets and clinics?

We get this information from a variety of sources including various open-source datasets, state licensing data, and our own crawler that looks for missing and updated information 24/7. And we have also paid a couple of sources to get business information, too.

But most importantly, we get information from you. We know the site is missing a lot of information, and it definitely has some mistakes. When you click “Report a problem” or “Suggest an edit”, we will verify that information as quickly as possible (usually within a few hours) and make the updates. This helps other pet owners, and your contribution is appreciated!

Why is my vet/clinic missing from your data?

We've done the best we can to collect tens of thousands of clinics and many veterinarians, but we can't always get this information ourselves. Some websites block us from extracting their information, and others are either not readable or they're unreachable. State licensing information is inconsistent and not always up to date, either.

But you can help! If you take a few moments to enter some information about a missing clinic or veterinarian by clicking on “Why is my vet/clinic not listed?” on the search results page, we'll get it added ASAP — usually within a few hours.

I want to add a clinic or veterinarian. How much information do I need to give you?

Not much. You definitely do not need to provide all the information. A website address, a physical address, and/or the name of the clinic or veterinarian is usually good enough. We'll take it from there and try to fill out the rest of the information ourselves. The important thing is to alert us to a missing entry.

I'm a veterinarian and I have an issue with one or more reviews. What can I do?

See our section on Takedown Requests. We do not take down reviews merely because they're negative, but there are several other grounds for these requests.

Why do I need to have an account to leave a review?

We wish this weren't necessary, but without this step, we'll be inundated with bots leaving advertisements and God-knows-what-else.

Can I edit or delete my own review after posting it?

Yes. You can go back and edit or delete any review you've written, any time. There's no waiting period and no approval needed — it's your account and your review.

What about that other site... that has reviews of veterinarians?

We offer no opinions about them. We will say this, however: We try to differentiate ourselves by promising to have no financial or other business interest in the reviews. We do not believe it is possible to remain unbiased if you're taking money from someone.

What do you do with my email address?

Almost nothing. We will send you a notification if there's an issue or dispute about a review, for example. We might send a mass email if there's a big change to the site. But we don't spam you, sell your email address, track you, advertise, sell anything to data brokers, etc.

Do you take reviews that have been left on other sites (e.g. Google, Yelp, ...)?

No. That's against their Terms of Service, and we don't know that those reviews would meet our community guidelines.
